Fuel Up to Play 60 with Quaker and Emmitt SmithAs summer is winding down (say it isn’t so!!) and kids head back to school, it’s important to find ways to keep kids healthy and fit.

If you’ve got school-aged kiddos, then you’ve likely heard about Fuel Up to Play 60 which encourages physical activity among children and adults alike.

Quaker is teaming up with Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school wellness program, and Emmitt Smith to encourage and inspire families to balance eating sensibly and getting active as they fuel up for back-to-school. From his days gearing up for football season, to getting his own kids prepped for the school year, Emmitt Smith knows firsthand that a healthy lifestyle helps families fuel greatness for the season ahead.

Together, Quaker and Emmitt Smith are giving away 1,000 Back-to-School Fuel Packs this week!

It’s happening right now on Twitter (follow @Quaker and #QuakerBTS). Simply tweet a message to Quaker sharing how your family fuels up for school, use #QuakerBTS and #sweepstakes, and you’ll be entered into the sweepstakes. Entries may be submitted once per day through Friday, August 14. One thousand fuel pack winners and one grand prize winner will be chosen on August 21. To learn more and for official rules, follow @Quaker on Twitter.

We are always trying new things. Last year my husband and I ran the mini marathon while the kids ran the 5K. We also have Just Dance competitions when we can’t get outside. In our basement we have an elliptical and 2 treadmills so there is never an excuse not to get SOME kind of exercise!

The 8-year-old doesn’t need much help in the keeping active department – he never stops moving! For our teen, having a dog has been a great way to encourage physical fitness. She loves to play with him and walking the dog is a favorite family activity.
